FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Here you can find answers about how our stained glass is made, about our work and about how bespoke designs are created.

What does HendArt make?

HendArt creates handmade stained-glass pieces including wall and window panels, mirrors, suncatchers and small decorative glass objects.

Alongside the designs in our collections, we can also create work for a particular person or a specific space.

Are the stained-glass pieces really handmade?

Yes. Every piece is made by hand, beginning with the design stage.

Glass is selected to suit the design, and every piece is individually cut and shaped. The prepared pieces are joined using copper foil or another stained-glass technique suited to the design, soldered and completed after final checks.

This makes the process slower and more considered than mass production. Even when the same design is made more than once, small natural differences may appear in each finished piece.

How long does a stained-glass piece take to make?

Production time depends on the size of the work, the number of pieces, the level of detail and the studio's current workload.

Ready-made collection pieces can be dispatched sooner when they are in stock. For made-to-order or personalised work, an estimated production time is shared at the outset.

Rather than rushing handmade production, we prioritise completing every piece carefully and securely.

How can I place an order?

Online ordering is not currently available through the website. You can contact us by email or Instagram about a piece you like.

If you share the name of the piece, the dimensions you have in mind and your colour preferences, we can go through the available options with you.

Do you make personalised stained glass?

Yes. We can create a design for a person, a special occasion or a particular living space.

A name, date, colour palette, favourite animal, plant, symbol or theme can become the starting point. We can also design pieces to suit the dimensions of a window, wall, door or another location.

Not every idea can be transferred directly into stained glass. In those cases, we suggest a stronger, more practical and visually balanced alternative while preserving the spirit of the original idea. You can share bespoke-design requests with us by email or Instagram.

Can you turn my drawing or image into stained glass?

In many cases, yes. You can share your drawing, reference image or idea with us by email or Instagram.

We first assess whether the image is suitable for stained-glass production. Very small details, fine lines or areas that cannot be made safely in glass may be simplified and adapted to the technique.

The proposed design and key details are shared with you by email before production begins.

Can I change the colours or dimensions?

Colour and size options can be changed depending on the structure of the product.

Glass colours may appear slightly different in photographs and under different lighting conditions. Because the availability of certain specialist glass can also vary, we may suggest the closest suitable alternative that works with the design.

Changing the dimensions may require the proportions and piece structure to be redesigned, which can also affect the price and production time.

Can I see the design before production starts?

For bespoke work, the general design and colour plan are shared by email before production begins.

Agreed revisions are made at this stage. Once an approved design enters production and the glass has begun to be cut, major changes may no longer be possible.

Can handmade pieces vary?

Yes. Small differences in glass texture, colour movement, solder lines and the making process are a natural part of handcraft.

These variations do not mean the product is faulty. On the contrary, they ensure that no piece is completely identical to another and give every work its own character.

How should stained glass be cared for?

Dust can be removed with a soft, dry cloth. A slightly damp cloth may be used when needed.

Abrasive cleaning products, rough sponges and strong chemicals are not recommended, as they may damage the glass surface or soldered areas. Use a secure fixing point when hanging the piece and avoid locations where it may be at risk of falling.

Any product-specific care or use instructions are shared together with the piece.

Will you offer stained-glass workshops?

Yes, we plan to offer beginner-friendly stained-glass workshops in the future.

These sessions will introduce participants to the basic stages of stained-glass making and give them the opportunity to create a small piece of their own. Dates, content and participation details will be announced on the website and social media once confirmed.

Will you sell stained-glass tools and materials?

In the future, we plan to offer a selected range of tools, equipment and materials used in stained-glass making.

We would like to create a carefully chosen range, from essential beginner tools to helpful products that make the production process easier.

When these products become available, they will be presented with information about their intended use and any necessary safety guidance.

Will HendArt only offer stained-glass products?

Stained glass will remain HendArt's main area of production. Over time, however, we also plan to feature selected work by makers and artists working in other art forms.

Our aim is not simply to increase the number of products, but to bring together different creative disciplines that share a respect for handcraft, original design and good workmanship.

New art forms and product categories will be added to the collections as they become ready.

Can I request corporate or bulk work?

Yes. Bulk-production options can be considered for companies, architecture and interior-design studios, events and special occasions.

Once the quantity, budget, delivery date and personalisation requirements are shared, we prepare a proposal suited to the project. Because the work is handmade, bulk work should be planned as early as possible.

How can I contact you with another question?

You can contact us by email or Instagram regarding our work or bespoke-design ideas.

If your question concerns a particular piece, sharing its name or link will help. For a bespoke design, details such as size, colour and a reference image can help us respond more efficiently.
